Medical Office Representative (Riverside/Tiverton/Johnston/ Newport)

Seeking Professional High Energy Medical Office Representative to help our growing practice.

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours, Monday -- Friday (And occasional Saturdays); 8:00 am -- 5:00 pm (or similar hours, must be flexible)

Job Description: This is a multi-functional role. The Medical Office Representative is responsible for greeting arriving patients, and manage patient wait times, assist patients with necessary completion of paperwork, enter and/or update insurance information in online billing system, collect patient responsibility and outstanding patient balances, process incoming/outgoing calls/schedule appointments, encounter form processing and batching to include manual charge entry. The Medical Office Representative maintains confidentiality of patient and company information, understands HIPAA compliance, and may also be asked to perform other clinical and clerical duties as needed, such as verifying insurance eligibility, data entry, medical assisting, entering patient pathology results in EMR, calling patients & answering patient calls regarding biopsy and lab results, scanning pathology reports, faxing and using EMR software. Must be able to verify patient information; record medical history; confirm purpose of visit utilizing an IPad tablet, date entry into EMR during patient visits, prepare patient for exams and procedures, prepares equipment & instruments using proper sterilization techniques, provide education to patients on pre and post-operative care instructions, clean and sanitize rooms, equipment and instruments as needed and in between patients, maintain inventory and supplies for clinical areas, answer triage and routine phone calls from patients, pharmacies and referring providers. Must be able to handle a cash drawer and have strong mathematical skills. Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer/Firefox. AdvancedMD medical billing software experience preferred. Previous experience with electronic health records systems preferred.

Must have strong ethics, be a fast learner and a team player with excellent communications skills, and be able to follow directions and work flow assigned.
Reports to Office Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of CPT/ICD 9 coding, preferably dermatology CPT/ICD9 coding
  • Strong computer and customer service skills; 50 WPM
  • 2 to 3 years' experience as medical assistant preferably in dermatology;
  • Proficient in spelling and grammar
  • Flexibility is a must
  • Must be willing to travel between all offices
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology/Anatomy or strong biology background required
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
